PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana 2026: Apply Online

The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a mega Central Government initiative with an investment of over ₹75,000 crores to light up more than 1 crore households across India. The scheme aims to provide up to 300 units of free electricity per month to households by installing rooftop solar panels.

Benefits: Besides entirely free electricity for your household consumption, families can earn an extra income of about ₹15,000 to ₹18,000 annually by selling the surplus electricity back to distribution companies (DISCOMs).

Subsidy Structure for Solar Panels

The government is providing heavy subsidies directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries to drastically reduce the initial installation cost:

  • 1 kW System (0 - 150 units): Subsidy of ₹30,000.
  • 2 kW System (150 - 300 units): Subsidy of ₹60,000.
  • 3 kW System (Over 300 units): Maximum Subsidy capped at ₹78,000.

The scheme is open to the general public, provided they meet the following basic requirements:

  1. The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  2. They must own a house with a solid concrete roof suitable for mounting solar panels.
  3. The household must have an active, valid electricity connection.
